Please remember to pack mittens, hats, boots and snowpants.  Students are often missing gear which creates a health and safety situation...please check backpacks and pockets and make sure they are ready for recess in a Michigan winter.  Thank you!

Lenten Friday Cheese Pizza Lunches are Here!

Order Form

The St. Patrick 7th graders will be holding Lenten cheese pizza lunches from March 15th through April 12th.  Proceeds will go toward their 8th grade experiences – Graduation party, class trip and gift to the school.  Parents complete an order form for the entire period, due March 8.  The amount due will be calculated and billed in one charge to your Smart Tuition account, on the April invoice.  No cash or weekly orders will be collected.  As there is no school on March 8th, the Lenten Pizza lunches will start on the 15th. Please note that this $4.00 lunch contains a slice of cheese pizza, an applesauce pouch and a drink.  If your child orders milk, there will be lemonade available as well on pizza day.  Extra slices are available for $1.00 each.  Please contact Wade or Nikki Bernreuter if you have any questions about pizza, or the School Office concerning Smart Tuition.  Thank you.

The Light is on For You

Lunch Duty

Families in K-8 have a lunch duty  commitment.  We need your assistance in order to have safe, organized and fun playground time.  Generally your commitment is 1 week every other year.  If you are unable to do lunch duty during your assigned week, you can switch with other parents for a schedule that works better for you; you can ask members of your immediate family to do a lunch for you; you can contact lunch subs (see list, $8/day).  Our subs have been working double-time for many weeks.  We are asking if possible, please work your lunch duty and also please consider making yourself available to sub for others.  If we can add your name to the sub list, even if it is just one or two days a week, please let us know.  It is a great way to see your kids during the day, bring them a special lunch, meet their friends and get some playtime for yourself.  Thank you.

Altar Server Pizza & Refresher

Attention all altar servers!  Please mark your calendars for Sunday, St. Patrick's Day, March 17, at noon, to meet in the church with Fr. Tom for a training update and refresher for altar server skills.  Following the training, servers are invited to come to the Rectory for pizza!  Please, RSVP (asstsecretary@stpatrickparnellschool.org or 691-8541) so we are prepared with enough pizza.  What a great way to honor our patron saint, in service and fellowship!  Thank you. 

125 Year Celebration

We are planning to celebrate our 125 year school birthday with the kids on March 15.  This will also be our Patron Saint celebration as well as Bishop Walkowiak's visit.  Ehe date for the adult evening celebration of 125 Years is TBD - stay tuned!  We will be asking in the near future for some help to make this evening a success!

Open Gym - Youth Basketball

Sunday youth basketball open gyms will be held beginning December 2, from 1-3pm each week.  Boys and girls grades 3-8 are welcome to join us to brush up on their basketball skills for the season.  Please contact Athletic Director, Jamie Dye, with any questions by email at athleticdirector@stpatrickparnellschool.org or call/text 269-330-6395.

If you intend to apply for a tuition scholarship for the 19/20 school year, please see the instructions attached. Please note that all applications must be submitted as soon as possible to be considered for the Diocesan "Bishop's Scholarship".  This application must also be filled out if you intend to apply for a scholarship from St. Patrick Parish.

PTO will have an available position on the board in the Spring. Melissa Patyi is currently filling the role of the President. Her three year term is up.  PTO is looking for an individual that is energetic, outgoing and able to work well with others. This position is a three year commitment. Each family, as agreed to when registering, is required to assist with community service/fundraising activities for our school.  This list includes a variety of activities that are needed for our school to continue to support current programs, fulfill its mission, and remain viable.   Families with children in grades K- 8 are required to sign up for 2 events.  Preschool and DK families are required to sign up for 1 event.  

If you have a skill or interest you would like to share instead of something listed, please give the school office a call.  We welcome your ideas and interests.

Events are "works in progress" and any changes to this list will be communicated as quickly as possible.  Activities are available on a first come, first served basis.  More specific information about the events will be provided by the Coordinator as the date approaches.  Thank you!

Rejoice and Be Glad: Living a Holy Life: A Silent Retreat for Women led by Sister Colleen Ann Nagle and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist

Women of all ages are invited to a silent retreat at the Franciscan Life Process Center. This retreat includes silent reflection, Mass, Liturgy of the Hours and presentations using Pope Francis’ The Call to Holiness in Today’s World, which addresses ways to live a holy life.
Cost: $250 includes presentations, room, snacks Friday evening, and continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

A tool for saving for college has been expanded to elementary and secondary education.

Through 529 plans, investments grow free of federal taxes, and withdrawals are free of federal taxes when spent on qualified education expenses for elementary, secondary or higher education. Parents, grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles and anyone interested in helping provide for a child’s education may contribute.

Lunch Duty Schedule

Each family assists with lunch supervision during the school year, according to an alphabetical schedule.  The lunch duty schedule is printed each week in the Shamrock, several weeks in advance. Please arrive at 11:15 to sign in at the school office; lunch goes until 12:35.  K-2nd: 11:20-12:05;
6-8th: 11:30-12:00 (Lunch in classrooms);  3-5th: 11:50-12:35.

If you are unable to do lunch duty during your week, you may arrange for a sub.  Subs are contacted and reimbursed directly by you at a rate of $8/day.  If you would like to be a sub, contact the school office - more are always needed!  You may also try switching weeks or days with other families, instead of paying a sub, to make it work for your schedule.

Order How To

Saint Patrick School's uniform provider is Flynn O'Hara - PARENT PORTAL .  You are not required to buy from the provider. However, anything listed on the site is part of our dress code in case you need a visual reference. In addition, the company will embroider our school logo for any items purchased.  For future reference, a link to the portal will be on our website.

Friday School Rosary

The school students gather in the church every Friday afternoon that school is in session to pray the Rosary  (except during Lent when we pray the Stations), at 2:35PM.  All are welcome to join us in this devotion to the Blessed Mother.

First Friday Adoration

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament  follows 9AM Mass until 4PM on every First Friday of the month.   Adorers are need for one-hour time slots and each hour requires at least 2 adorers.  To schedule your visitation hour please call Beth Zambon at 874-7572. All are most welcome to participate in the veneration of the Sacrament of Divine Love.  “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me; let him drink who believes in me. SCRIP
Did you know that with a little planning ahead, SCRIP can lead to big tuition savings?  Last year, participating St. Patrick families saved a combined total of $5000 on their annual tuition costs!  SCRIP is a program where gift cards or gift certificates are purchased and used for the full face value and a percentage of the face value is credited to a specific child’s tuition account. SCRIP can be used at participating grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores, fast food, full service restaurants, etc. Friends and relatives can also purchase SCRIP and apply their proceeds to a specific child’s tuition account.
