Prayer of Blessing for Students and Teachers

Lord our God,
in your wisdom and love
you surround us with the mysteries of the universe.
In times long past you sent us your prophets
to teach your laws
and to bear witness to your undying love.
You sent us your Son
to teach us by word and example
that true wisdom comes from you alone.

Send your Spirit upon these students and their teachers
and fill them with your wisdom and blessings.
Grant that during this academic year
they may devote themselves to their studies
and share what they have learned from others.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

New! Service Commitments for 2018-19

Each family, as agreed to when registering, is required to assist with community service/fundraising activities for our school.  This list includes a variety of activities that are needed for our school to continue to support current programs, fulfill its mission, and remain viable.   Families with children in grades K- 8 are required to sign up for 2 events.  Preschool and DK families are required to sign up for 1 event.

If you have a skill or interest you would like to share instead of something listed, please give the school office a call.  We welcome your ideas and interests.

Events are "works in progress" and any changes to this list will be communicated as quickly as possible.  Activities are available on a first come, first served basis.  More specific information about the events will be provided by the Coordinator as the date approaches.  Thank you!

2018/19 School Calendar

Calendar

As always, the calendar is a work in progress and subject to change (!), but these are the important dates so far for next school year, Aug 2018-June 2019.

There has been a change to the calendar - Mid Winter Break has been changed from Feb. 18 & 19 to Feb. 21 and 22.

Virtus Training

virtusonline.org

Coming to St. Patricks, Sept. 18, 5:45PM, Parish Center.  Free childcare and a light snack for participants.  If you have not taken this class, please register for a session and complete this parent requirement.  We know  "another thing" can be difficult to do, but we thank you very much for your attention and participation.
The Virtus training class, Protecting God's Children, is for all people, Catholic or not Catholic, who interact with children in schools and parishes.  You may be carpooling friends of your kids, going  a field trip or attending a classroom event or working a school or parish event that involves children- all these activities require Virtus training.  The intent is to provide information that puts us all on the same page with respect to what a safe environment is and our responsibility in helping to provide it.
It is a one-time training - once you have had it, you are good to go!  Register at virtus.org (set up a user name and pw; select Grand Rapids Diocese, select the session you will attend).  We'll receive notification when you complete the training.  There are many located around the Diocese on different days and different times.  Any session is OK to attend.

Tuition Savings

BENEFIT
Benefit is a free iPhone and Android app that allows you to shop at places like Target, Starbucks, Amazon, Walmart and many more, while giving up to 20% of every transaction back to your SMART tuition account, other designated tuition account or to general tuition assistance. Just shop as usual and when it comes time to checkout, use the Benefit app to purchase a digital gift card to redeem instantly.  For instance, buy $100 of Gap merchandise, and $8 (8%) goes back to your SMART tuition account, a designated tuition account or general tuition assistance.   It doesn't cost you a dime beyond what you were already going to spend.  It's raising funds without fundraising!

Download the app and select your school as your chosen beneficiary to start saving or giving today.

For more information go to www.benefit-mobile.com/consumers. Feel free to forward this email to family and friends. The more people who participate, the more you earn!

SCRIP
Did you know that with a little planning ahead, SCRIP can lead to big tuition savings?  Last year, participating St. Patrick families saved a combined total of $5000 on their annual tuition costs!  SCRIP is a program where gift cards or gift certificates are purchased and used for the full face value and a percentage of the face value is credited to a specific child’s tuition account. SCRIP can be used at participating grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores, fast food, full service restaurants, etc. Friends and relatives can also purchase SCRIP and apply their proceeds to a specific child’s tuition account.

Here’s how it works: Sign up for the SCRIP program at St. Patrick School and designate the tuition account for the proceeds to be applied. Place an order by Monday – either online or by dropping the order form and payment off, and orders are sent home on Thursdays.  If SCRIPNow! is used online, SCRIP can be used within minutes. Now you can take your gift cards or certificates and use them as cash wherever you shop.  For more information, or to register an account, please contact Penny Spanbauer at 616.635.0385 or pennypostspanbauer@gmail.com  To sign up online, please visit https://www.shopwithscrip.com/Login/Enroll   The St. Patrick School enrollment code is D65LF3L2184
