Strategic Planning Questionnaire

Last year we completed a successful self-study and accreditation visit. This was a lengthy process that required us to internally evaluate our current educational practices using the National Catholic Benchmarks and Standards. We were then evaluated over two days by a team of administrators and educators from the area.
Using the results from this study, we are beginning the process of creating a new 5 year strategic plan. Please take the time to fill out this four question STRATEGIC PLANNING QUESTIONNAIRE that we would appreciate your feedback on. Your input will give us additional data to consider as we continue through this important process of improving our school.  Please complete this form by Friday 11/17. I appreciate all of your continued help and support.

2018-19 Priority Registration: Attention Parents

Priority enrollment for all families currently enrolled in the school will end on Tuesday 11/21/2017.  If you are returning next year, please be sure and get your registration in to us in the next few days to assure a spot for next school year.  After Thanksgiving, enrollment will open to all families not currently enrolled in our school.  This year we have waiting lists for PS-KG and expect the same for PS-1st next school year.  We will do everything possible to enroll siblings while still managing our classroom size policy. Please make sure to let us know of any changes that may occur for your family next school year.

Hospitality Committee

The hospitality committee is an arm of the PTO that is an important part of making St Patrick’s feel like a family.  We recognize that through acts of kindness and gratitude we can serve our school and provide a good example of using our time and talents to our children.  Intermittently throughout the year, the hospitality committee provides in several ways: 

  • Light dinner for the teachers prior to conferences in the fall and spring
  • Teacher appreciation week activities
  • Serving refreshments following the Christmas programs
  • Principal and administrative assistant appreciation days
  • Any other special visits: Bishop, superintendent of schools, special donors

It has been my pleasure to serve as chairperson of this committee for the last 6 years, and I am ready to pass the torch on to a willing individual for next year! If you are interested in becoming a member or maybe even heading it up next year, please contact me at mgoodno@msn.com.  The time commitment is small and many hands make light work, so please consider joining us to keep the family in St. Pats!!

Reminders

A couple notes that we could use your help with:
  • Our doors open at 7:40am. We appreciate you waiting until this time. Students arriving before 7:40 are welcome to schedule before care with our care team
  • Please try to pick up before 3:30pm. If you feel you cannot arrive by this time, we are happy to provide after care programming.
  • For parents picking up/dropping off to child care, please park in a designated parking spot to keep the drive and trash area clear of traffic.
  • Please do not enter off of Parnell for before or after school drop off/pick up. If you have any other family members providing transportation, please communicate that all traffic enters off of Cannonsburg Road.

Calling Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Is your child interested in a future career and leadership role in agriculture, food, science, and environment? We are gauging interest in beginning a new FFA club at St. Patrick's, working in partnership with Lowell FFA to provide activities and experiences that explore the field of agriculture. We plan to meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the library starting November 14 through February 1. The group will be led by Mr. Schut, Mrs. Schut, Mrs. McCauley and Mr. Nugent.  This program will be open to all St. Patrick School 7th & 8th graders, and also open to current St. Patrick Parish and St. Mary Parish 7th & 8th graders who attend REP or have a home school curriculum approved by our Faith Formation Director, Andrew Anderson.  Please contact our principal Scott Czarnopys if interested, principal@stpatrickparnellschool.org

Bake Sale

American Heritage Girls are baking up a storm for you! We will be selling cookies, brownies, pies, cupcakes, no-bakes, cake balls, and decorating cakes for sale after all Masses November 11-12. Pick up some goodies to Help us encourage our girls as they have been working hard with mom baking to raise funds for Camp and Service Projects. Cash and checks accepted!

Pie Sale

Thank You!!!  We've received your pie orders and we're overwhelmed by the support of our friends and families.  Our annual fundraiser is a success!  Now that we have the orders, it's time to make the pies.  Our assembly line style day is next Saturday from 7:45am until approximately 4:00pm.  The process is simple and a lot of fun!

Yearbook Candids & Action Shots

As you take photos this year of your kids doing St. Patrick School things - sacraments, Mass, service activities, Science Olympiad, sports, field trips, class parties, school assemblies, programs and other, please email some good ones to the school office. We will collect them all year and submit as many as we can for inclusion in the Year Book.  The Year Book is available in May 2018.

Lunch Subs

We are in need of Lunch Subs.  Sub names go on the sub list and are contacted directly by the parent unable to do lunch duty.  Subs are reimbursed directly by that parent at $8 per lunch sub ($40 for all 5 days).  Some subs are 1 or 2 days a week, some are for the whole week.  You can specify what days you are available and you can accept or not accept a sub.  Subs need to arrive at 11:15 to sign in at the school office; lunch goes until 12:35.  K-2nd: 11:20-12:05; 6-8th: 11:30-12:00;  3-5th: 11:50-12:35.  It's a great way to see your child during the day, meet other parents and become involved in the school.  Contact the school office to get your name on the list.  Thank you.

It’s Baaaaaack! Friday (and a few Thursdays) Pizza Lunches Are Here!

Form

The St. Patrick Sports Boosters will be holding Friday Pizza lunches beginning September 15 and ending on December 21 (14 weeks). Proceeds will go to the Sports Boosters to help fund athletics at St. Patrick School. Parents are welcome to complete a form each week, sending in the form and payment which are due by Wednesday of that week. For those who’d like to submit a one time payment for multiple weeks, simply complete the form and send in your payment by Wednesday of the week you’d like to begin. There are two weeks where we don’t have school on Friday. So, we’ll have pizza on Thursdays those two weeks, as noted on the form.

Lunch Duty Schedule

2017-18 Lunch Duty Schedule

Each family assists with lunch supervision during the school year, according to an alphabetical schedule.  The lunch duty schedule is printed each week in the Shamrock, several weeks in advance. Please arrive at 11:15 to sign in at the school office; lunch goes until 12:35.  K-2nd: 11:20-12:05;
6-8th: 11:30-12:00 (Lunch in classrooms);  3-5th: 11:50-12:35.

If you are unable to do lunch duty during your week, you may arrange for a sub.  Subs are contacted and reimbursed directly by you at a rate of $8/day.  If you would like to be a sub, contact the school office - more are always needed!  You may also try switching weeks or days with other families, instead of paying a sub, to make it work for your schedule.

Service Commitments for 2017-18

Sign Up - If you have not already done so, please sign up for a service commitment.

Each family, as agreed to when registering for the 2017-18 school year, is required to assist with community service/fundraising activities for our school.  This list includes a variety of activities that are needed for our school to continue to support current programs, fulfill its mission, and remain viable.   Families with children in grades K- 8 are required to sign up for 2 events.Preschool and DK families are required to sign up for 1 event.
Events are "works in progress" and any changes to this list will be communicated as quickly as possible.  Activities are available on a first come, first served basis.  More specific information about the events will be provided by the Coordinator as the date approaches.  Thank you!

Lost and Found

There are many lost sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts, and a few hats, mittens, socks and books in the lost and found on the bench outside the office.   Please check and claim your items; items unclaimed after several days are donated.  Thank you!

Heartstrings

Heartstrings is a volunteer committee that supports our school community during the special times in our lives.  If there is a family dealing with sickness, the loss of a loved one, celebrating a new birth, or another one of life's many blessings, then we put together a meal or as many that are needed, to show our support and caring.  It is a simple dinner consisting of a main dish, side dish and dessert, either brought to school to send home or maybe delivered by you to the family.  This is an everyday way for us serve others and answer our call to be disciples of Christ.  When Heartstrings are needed, Katie Albert, Heartstrings chair,  will send out an email asking for volunteers for those three items (cooks choice) and the date that we need them.  It is not a huge commitment since we are helping when we are able, and you don't have to help every time.  If you would like to add your name to our list of volunteers or if you are already on our list for Heartstrings and wish to be removed, please contact Katie Albert (616)828-3527 or kmalbert@gmail.com.  Katie would be happy to answer any questions about our wonderful group.

Child care and before/after care began on the first day of school. Your child must be registered with an established schedule before they can attend. Please send all schedule needs to childcare@stpatrickparnellschool.org prior to the first day of school. In addition, please submit a hard copy of the registration form along with the registration fee within the first week of school. For more information regarding these programs please refer to the school website. Uniform Provider 

Saint Patrick School's uniform provider is Flynn O'Hara - PARENT PORTAL .  You are not required to buy from the provider. However, anything listed on the site is part of our dress code in case you need a visual reference. In addition, the company will embroider our school logo for any items purchased.  For future reference, a link to the portal will be on our website.

Friday School Rosary

The school students gather in the church every Friday afternoon that school is in session to pray the Rosary  (except during Lent when we pray the Stations), at 2:35PM.  All are welcome to join us in this devotion to the Blessed Mother.

First Friday Adoration

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament  follows 9AM Mass until 4PM on every First Friday of the month.   Adorers are need for one-hour time slots and each hour requires at least 2 adorers.  To schedule your visitation hour please call Beth Zambon at 874-7572. All are most welcome to participate in the veneration of the Sacrament of Divine Love.  “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me; let him drink who believes in me. SCRIP
Did you know that with a little planning ahead, SCRIP can lead to big tuition savings?  Last year, participating St. Patrick families saved a combined total of $5000 on their annual tuition costs!  SCRIP is a program where gift cards or gift certificates are purchased and used for the full face value and a percentage of the face value is credited to a specific child’s tuition account. SCRIP can be used at participating grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores, fast food, full service restaurants, etc. Friends and relatives can also purchase SCRIP and apply their proceeds to a specific child’s tuition account.

The Tyson  Labels can be confusing because they look different on different products.  They are worth .24 cents a label!  Here are some examples:
